Multidisciplinary research on changing people-environment relations since the start of the Holocene, 12,000 years ago. The site provides an overview of the main ongoing studies, including bibliography and contacts. Seeks to: examine the conservation, development and trade impacts of application of the precautionary principle; stimulate international policy dialogue highlighting the experiences and perspectives of developing countries; develop 'best practice' guidance on the meaning and application of precaution in natural resource management and biodiversity conservation.
